Clément, Stomates, III, 14, 1.

Quand ils sont nés, ils veulent vivre et
subir la mort et laisser des enfants pour la mort.

When they are born, they wish to live
and to meet with their dooms or rather
to rest, and they leave children behind
them to meet with, dooms in turn.

Da sie geboren sind, nehmen sie auf sich
zu leben und den Tod zu haben (- vielmehr
auszuruhen -) und Kinder hinterlassen sie,
daß neuer Tod geboren wird.
